We understand everyone's concern around COVID-19 at this time and our top priority is child safety and the safety of our volunteers. We also want to stress the importance of mentorship and the personal relationship you have with your Little Brother or Little Sister. With the CDC guidelines of maintaining social distancing of six feet in mind, we are asking our matches to suspend in person meetings for at least two weeks, effective immediately. We know this is a lot to ask, but we want to emphasize that this is to help stop the spread of COVID-19 and is something we will be constantly monitoring through the CDC, World Health Organization (WHO), and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
With that being said, we are encouraging telecommunication through FaceTime, Skype, Zoom, calling, and/or texting. Please communicate with your Little's parent or guardian about when and how often you can communicate with them. With schools being closed, we really want to encourage you to connect with your Little and talk about how they are feeling during this time. Your Match Support Specialist is here if you need any support around how to talk to your Little about everything that is going on and specific worries they might have. Below is a compilation of resources that will be helpful for you and your Little.
For questions please contact your Match Support Specialist or email Programs@bbbscm.org.
